Why Finder windows cannot be hidden?

On macOS, there should always be an app that is focused. When all the other apps are hidden and you try to hide Finder, you'll see that the 'Hide Finder' button is greyed out. When Finder is hidden programmatically in that state, a previous app appears instead. That's why hiding Finder windows is not supported in Hidy.

If you ever come across an app on the App Store that also hides Finder windows, please feel free to let me know! I'm interested.

The app icon is not shown on the menu bar

macOS hides items on the menu bar when there is not enough space. Please try making enough space in the menu bar.
