Why Finder windows can’t be hidden

On macOS, one app must always remain active. When all other apps are hidden and you try to hide Finder, the Hide Finder command becomes unavailable. If Finder is hidden programmatically in this situation, macOS automatically brings a previously used app to the foreground instead.

Because of this system behavior, hiding Finder windows isn’t supported in Hidy.

The app isn’t visible in the menu bar

macOS automatically hides menu bar items when space is limited. Try closing other menu bar apps or adjusting your menu bar layout to free up space.
