My Mac doesn’t get locked

You can go to System Settings > Lock Screen and set ‘Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off’ to ‘immediately’ to lock your Mac immediately after sleep.

The app isn’t visible in the menu bar

macOS hides items on the menu bar when there is not enough space. Try making enough space in the menu bar.
