TabBack
How to use

Setup

Please uninstall TabBack Lite when you get TabBack for Safari, as they may conflict with each other.

1. Enable TabBack in Safari Extensions Settings and allow TabBack to access browsing history. TabBack never collects any of your browsing history and uses the permisson only to display tab titles in the tabs panel.

2. Go to the TabBack settings by either: A) opening TabBack again, or B) following either of the steps indicated by the screenshot below.

3. Register your shortcut, and you're all set!

🚀 Usage

Note: If you're using macOS 14.0 or 14.1, the extension might be sometimes suspended by Safari. When that happens, you can create a new window and then close (⌘N then ⌘W) or click the yellow ① from the screenshot above to make the extension work again. This issue is fixed on macOS 14.2.

• Press your shortcut once to quickly go back to the previous tab.

• Hold your modifier key(s) (⌃,⌥, and/or ⌘) while tapping the non-modifier key to cycle through recent tabs.

• When the tabs panel is open, press your reverse shortcut to cycle through recent tabs in reverse.

• Press Esc to cancel tabbing back.

• You can also use your cursor to choose a past tab from the tabs panel.
